We partnered with the Memory Project to create portraits for underprivileged children. We created portraits for children in Nigeria. Each Honors/AP student had to create a full value pencil drawing and a painted portrait for each child. We also learned a little about the country of Nigeria and it's culture. Portraits are being sent to these children and we hope it will remind them of how special and unique each one is!

Beginning Art Studio students started the new semester by creating a heart. Students viewed the work of artist Romero Britto and created a colorful heart with bold lines. We learned how Romero Britto always tries to put positive messages into his art and spread ideas of peace an love. We also learned about the elements and principles of design and added different patterns in the background. These made a cool display for Valentine's Day!
Students drew kernels of popped popcorn through careful observation using white charcoal. Then students had to try and use their imagination to visualize each piece of popcorn as something else. This exercise cultivates creativity while also honing observational drawing skills.
